A Coruña/Madrid, 8 de March 2024 | PuntoGal signed a collaboration agreement with the Spanish Chapter of Women4Cyber, a European organization that seeks to increase the inclusion and gender perspective in cybersecurity-related work.
The agreement will serve as a framework for joint activities in this area, such as the localization in Galician of tools on cybersecurity, the extension of Women4Cyber programs in Galicia, especially mentoring, and collaboration with other initiatives in which PuntoGal is working, such as those inserted in the scope of the ciber.gal node.
Through different projects and initiatives, W4C Spain constitutes a collaborative space where women in cybersecurity from academia, research and industry can share knowledge, experiences and network, as well as motivate other women to consider cybersecurity as a profession in which to develop and grow. PuntoGal, with this agreement, continues its commitment to cybersecurity as one of its most outstanding corporate programs, as well as to the gender vision in the ICT field.
On the signing of this agreement, the president and founder of Women4Cyber Spain, Eduvigis Ortiz, said that “we are very pleased to have the commitment and participation of PuntoGal as a partner of our community to support the mission of promoting and highlighting female talent in order to achieve a more equitable, diverse and secure world. In W4C Spain, we want to be promoters of a social and cultural change that implies a greater participation of women in the field of technology in general and cybersecurity in particular. To achieve this goal we are working on different projects and initiatives that, hand in hand with PuntoGal, will have a more direct impact to support and develop Galician female talent in a much closer way.”
For his part, Dario Janeiro, CEO of PuntoGal, commented that “within the actions being carried out by the domain to become a benchmark within the field of cybersecurity, we cannot ignore the distance we still have to go in gender equality in this specific area but also in the entire ICT sector.” This agreement “will allow us to organize or collaborate with initiatives that highlight the female talent in Galicia, making it visible as a reference for the new generations that are being trained in scientific and technical disciplines. In this sense, the collaboration with W4C Spain will be a very valuable contribution”.
