PuntoGal, the managing entity of Galicia’s identifying domain on the internet, has joined Nonprofit Cyber, the international coalition of non-profit organizations united to enhance cybersecurity. Nonprofit Cyber celebrates its third anniversary with this addition and two others, bringing the total to 49 entities that share and develop best practices, tools, and standards to make the internet a safer place.

PuntoGal’s General Director, Darío Janeiro, stated that security “is one of the fundamental values of the domain.” “Since its launch, we have maintained an active policy in this area, being part of organizations like Nonprofit Cyber, with whom we share tools and controls that strengthen the necessary trust expected from a domain,” he added.

“Collaboration fuels our mission, and these new members strengthen our commitment to protecting, educating, and empowering communities worldwide,” explained Tom Brennan, a member of the Cyber Executive Committee, regarding PuntoGal’s incorporation.

In the field of cybersecurity, PuntoGal is already part of the Global Cyber Alliance (GCA), created in 2015, whose goal is to address cyber risks. It collaborates in sharing information about malicious domains—one of the key infrastructures used by cybercriminals—and in promoting toolkits designed for groups such as journalists, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and NGOs.

Additionally, the entity has signed an agreement with the Spanish Chapter of Women4Cyber, a European organization that seeks to increase inclusion and gender perspective in cybersecurity-related jobs. Together, they have organized events in Galicia to highlight the need for technology to evolve towards more inclusive, feminist, and diverse approaches.
